For the first time, information service has been launched in the northernmost upazila, Tentulia through the site Uniontex.gov.bd. Sohag Chandra Saha, the current working Upazila Nirbahi Officer of the upazila, has launched this information service. As a result, all the civic services provided by the Union Parishad of the upazila are now available online. Any citizen of that upazila can apply for trade license, character certificate, land certificate, inheritance certificate, citizenship certificate, inheritance certificate by entering the only web site from anywhere.
Citizens of the upazila are taking these services from Union Parishad sitting at home. This online service has been launched in the last 2020-2021 financial year. So far 523 service candidates have availed this service. This information was given in the press release sent by the upazila administration on Wednesday. It is said that Union Parishad is the lowest administrative office in rural areas in Bangladesh.
Union Parishads were formed under Section 180 of the Village Chowkidari Act. Initially, its role was limited to land security activities, but later it became the primary unit of local government. At present trade licenses, birth certificates, character certificates, land certificates, inheritance certificates, indigent certificates, citizenship certificates, inheritance certificates and many more are provided by the Union Parishad.
Thus, digital platform has become essential to make all these popular services more people friendly, this platform was developed in 2021-22 fiscal year at the initiative of the Upazila Administration and in collaboration with the Union Parishad to ensure that the services provided by the Union Parishad are delivered to the doorsteps of the people at low cost and in short time.
FazlulHaque of Bamanpara village in Bhajanpur union said he needed a citizenship certificate in case of emergency. He applied online at home and got the citizen's certificate.
He thanked all concerned for getting this service in remote areas in a timely manner.
Tentulia Sadar UP Chairman KaziAnisur Rahman said most of the citizens of his union are receiving citizen services online. On the other hand, Chairman of 5th Buraburi UP Md. Tarek Hossain and Secretary AloptaginMukul said that they are informing the people who have come to take the services of Uniontex.gov.bd, the technical unit of this first upazila administration of Bangladesh. They also said that this service will be able to inform the people of the entire area in a short time.
In this regard, Sohag Chandra Saha, Tentulia Upazila Nirbahi Officer said that this online portal was launched with all the services in one address with this mantra in mind. Through this, the service recipients will be able to take the services of the Union Parishad from home without going to the union services. This will save the time, cost and travel of the service recipients in all these three cases. This initiative has been taken by the upazila administration as part of the present government's initiative to build a digital Bangladesh.
Upazila Parishad Chairman Kazi Mahmudur Rahman Dablu said the introduction of the Union Tax Digital System has increased the transparency of work and created an opportunity to deliver services to the service recipients in the shortest possible time. This has increased the tendency of ordinary people to use digital systems.
