Members of Ukhiya police station conducted a drive at Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday and arrested seven fugitives, including a Union Parishad (UP) Member, all of whom were wanted in various cases.
All of the arrested individuals were involved with Awami League politics.
The arrestees were identified as Iqbal Bahar, Ukhiya upazila Awami League leader and Union Parishad Member of ward no. 8 at Rajapalong union in the upazila, Shahidullah Kaysar, the Forest and Environment Secretary of the upazila Awami League, Tarek Hossain Manik, the Convener of the upazila Chhatra League, Jamir Ahmed, a leader of the upazila Awami League, Imam Hossain, a leader of the upazila Jubo League, Abdur Salam Madhu, a leader of the Union Parishad Awami League, and Abdullah Al Saimon, a leader of the Union Parishad Jubo League. With Officer-in-Charge (OC) of UKhiya police station Md Arif Hossain in the lead, members of Ukhiya police station conducted separate drives on early Wednesday at Rajapalong union and Jaliapalong union. During these raids, they arrested seven leaders, including public representatives and leaders from the Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League.
Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Shafiqul Islam confirmed the matter.
