Bakshiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Munmun Jahan Liza foiled a child marriage by raiding a wedding house in Bakshiganj of Jamalpur. The incident took place at around 10 pm on Friday at New Tupkarchar village in Bakshiganj.
UNO said Mizanur Rahman of Fakirpara village in the same union, was getting married to a 7th class student in Merurchar union. Upon receiving the news, the child marriage was stopped. Later, both the families were released on bond stating that they would not get married before the age of 18. She further said that the upazila administration is strictly against child marriage.
