Upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) in Jhenaidah sadar Razia Akter Chowdhury has set an example standing by a 120-year-old woman Naitunnessa of village Kestapur who was suffering a lot for some mistakes on her elderly allowance card for a long. Not only that the UNO had arranged a three-wheeler to send the elderly woman at her house in remote village safely which was admired by the people on Monday. The women could not express her reaction to the matter immediately as she could not check her tears during the time.
When contacted UNO Razia Akter Chowdhury said, she was informed anyhow that an elderly woman was suffering due to some mistakes on her elderly allowance card and she could not avail her facilities for long. She (UNO) handed over an amount of Taka 25 thousand to the distressed elderly women and arranged correction of the card immediately.
She handed over food items including 30 kg of rice, five kg daal, two litres of soyabean oil, two kgs of lograms sugar and two packets of vermicelli.
She herself arranged the local transport so that Naitunnessa could return safe to her village home at Kestapur safely.
When contacted the elderly mother could not express her reactions as she was virtually speechless. She only prayed for the wellbeing of the UNO upholding her clothing. Upazila social service officer Abdul Hai Siddiquee, Ganna union parishad chairman Atiqul Hasan Masum, among others, were present during the time.
