In various roads of Madaripur, unlicensed tractors carrying brick, sand and bricks, and illegal vehicles with shallow engines are plying on rural roads and highways under construction by LGED. Due to this, on the one hand, the road is being destroyed and on the other hand, accidents are constantly happening. However, the local conscious community has demanded action against these unauthorized tractors carrying sand and bricks and cars with shallow engines to the administration.
Meanwhile, due to traffic on the road, the carpeting of Sahebrampur-Mollarhat and Bhurghata-Sasikar roads built at a cost of crores of Taka has been torn up and most of the roads are broken. There are many small and big potholes on the road. Water-mud accumulation in these pits is a lonely situation. When it rains, water accumulates in the holes. Pedestrians and vehicles are moving through this mud. The wheels of easybikes, autorickshaws get stuck in small and large potholes. Many times dirty water falls on pedestrians. Motorcycles, Easybikes and other small vehicles are facing constant accidents due to the dire condition of the roads in the area. In short, public suffering has increased.
Upazila Engineering Department Engineer Rezaul Karim and on-the-ground sources have informed that Kalkini Upazila Engineering Department is constructing and renovating rural paved roads of different unions of the district at a cost of billions of taka every year. Unauthorized tractors carrying sand and bricks and shallow engine vehicles are constantly plying on these paved roads. Due to this, the carpeting will go up after a few days of road construction. And trenches are created. As a result, passengers and pedestrians going to the Upazila have to suffer. Sahebrampur-Mollarhat and Bhurghata-Sasikar roads were renovated by LGED two to three years ago. But after digging ponds on a large scale across the two upazilas, the soil is transported to brick kilns and hundreds of unauthorized sand and brick carrying Mahendra, tractors and shallow engine vehicles are running through various rural roads of the upazila. On an average, about 200 tractors move on the road every day with this extra weight of earth, bricks and sand. Because of this, the carpeting of the paved roads built at the cost of billions of rupees has come up and created ditches. Public suffering has increased. Although these tractors and three-wheelers used for hauling soil, sand and bricks are prohibited on roads and highways, these illegal vehicles are roaming around. Due to this, the roads built by the government with crores of Tk are being destroyed. And while these vehicles are running, the soil and sand of the tractor is falling on the paved road. As a result, dust is flying on the road when the vehicle moves. Therefore, the local conscious community has demanded that the administration take action against these unauthorized sand and brick Mahendra, tractors and shallow engine driven vehicles. Several drivers of battery-powered vans said that the Sahebrampur-Mollarhat and Bhurghata-Sasikar roads have become derelict due to the plying of tractors carrying soil and sand. And we have to suffer the irony of having water in the trenches due to rain. Mahbubur Rahman of Gopalpur area of Kalkini upazila said that the road worth crores of Tk is being destroyed by the wheels of tractors carrying brick kiln soil, sand and bricks. Apart from this, due to severe noise pollution and dust, it has become difficult to live in a house near the road. So I demand to the authorities to take quick action against these vehicles. Upazila Engineer Rezaul Karim said that the rural roads have become derelict within a few days due to unauthorized tractors and shallow engine vehicles running on the rural roads. However, if these vehicles are stopped on rural roads, the roads will last much longer. However, these unauthorized traffic issues will be brought up in the monthly coordination meeting. Dasa upazila executive officer Sharmin Yasmin said, I will take action against unauthorized vehicles.
In this regard, Kalkini Upazila Nirbahi Officer Pinki Saha said that mobicord will be conducted soon against unauthorized brick, sand and soil carrying Mahendra, tractor and shallow engine vehicle drivers.
