The Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers' Association engaged in fruitful discussions today with Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader regarding their demands, including the cancellation of the "Prottoy" universal pension scheme.
The meeting, which commenced at 11:30 and concluded at 1:00 at the AL Party president's office in Dhanmondi on Saturday, involved university teachers currently on strike. After the meeting, Prof Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan, secretary-general of the federation and president of Dhaka University Teachers' Association (DUTA), expressed satisfaction with the discussions.
"We openly discussed our three-point demands," Nizamul informed the media. "Further statements will be made after consultations within the federation of teachers' associations."
Addressing the ongoing strike, he added, "Decisions will be taken following consultations with universities, the federation, and teachers' associations."
