A discussion meeting on thinking of ultra poor food partners was held in Kaliganj of Jhenidah on Wednesday. Japan-based voluntary organisation Hunger-free Works organized the discussion at the seminar room of the organization at Balidapara at the upazila.
Presided over by Hunger-free World programme officer SM Shahin Hossain, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Subarna Rani Saha attended the discussion as chief guest. Upazila cooperative officer Aslam Ali Bhuiyan, Niamatpur union parishad chairman Raju Ahmed Roni, Roygram union parishad chairman Ali Hossain Apu, Kaliganj press club president Jamir Hossain, voluntary organization Sonarbangla executive director Shibu Pada Biswas and journalist Shajahan Ali Saju among others remain present as special guests.
Organising secretary o Kaliganj Press Club Tarek Mahmud read the main script of the discussion, while organisations area coordinator Shahjahan Ali Bipash conducted the session.
The chief guest in her speech said ensuring safe food and other facilities could not be ensured for the ultra-poor people of the country even in half a decade after the independence was of 1971. United efforts by government, non-government and private initiatives might help ensure food for the ultra-poor as now desired by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina when she has been fighting to wash away the curse poverty from the Golden Bangladesh, she added.
