Unique initiative for clothing

A School Management Committee (SMC) in Jhenidah has taken a unique initiative for clothing distribution for the learners and others. The students, teachers, other staff of Hatbarobazer High School in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenidah have been collecting the clothing hanging on the hanger and a number of almirahs at the educational institution.

The students both female and male from the poor families have been benefited having shirt, pant, trouser, three-piece and other clothing from the digitalized school as they choose. Some well to do people have been contributing fresh clothing for the students. The aim of the activities was to provide adequate clothing for the people, especially, learners.

Some male and female students said they were facing acute crisis of clothing for a long time, as the guardians were not in a position to provide the same for them. Sometimes they were compelled to use dirty clothing during class. The Mahati Thikana has been meeting up their maximum demand for clothing either it is used or fresh.

A girl student said her three-piece was collected from the school almirah that her classmate donated there. A number of teachers of the school said they have been continuing the clothing exchange activities under the banner “Mahati Thikana” with the donation of the teachers and rich people at the area. Not only that, somebody has been donating Khata (rough notebooks), pen and other educational materials.

A teacher of the school said that they maintain an account for clothing distribution with Fast Security Islami Bank Limited (FSIBL)’s Kaliganj branch through Mahati Thikana account number 021112200006904. The donors have been depositing the money there for the wellbeing of the students. President of the school management committee Mahbubur Rahman Ranju said that the Mahati Thikana is a symbol of humanity from where the students and others learning how to stand by the distressed people in needs. The system should be introduced at all the educational and other institutes from where the people should be benefited directly, he said.
