At Maheshpur in Jhenaidah, a speeding motorbike lost control and collided with a tree, killing two riders.
The accident took place at Naoda village on Maheshpur-Chougachha road on Thursday (August 26) evening. The deceased were identified as Ismail Hossain (28) and Rocky (25).
The deceased were identified to be from Kakuria village of Chaugachha upazila in Jashore.
The deceased were identified as Iman Ali of Baro Kakuria village under Swarupdah union of Chougachha upazila and Rocky is the son of Rafi Uddin of the same village. Ismail and Roxky are uncle-nephew.
Witnesses said two youths on a motorbike were speeding towards Chougachha from Belemath Bazar in Maheshpur around 5.30 pm on Thursday when they lost control at a bend in the road and collided with a tree on the side of the road. A young man named Ismail Hossain was killed on the spot.
Locals rescued the injured Rocky and took him to Maheshpur Hospital. Later, when his condition deteriorated, Rocky died on the way to Jashore Sadar Hospital.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Maheshpur Police Station Saiful Islam said, “We have inspected the spot and recovered the motorcycle. The bodies are being sent for autopsies.”
