UN awards 139 Bangladeshi peacekeepers for serving in Mali

139 peacekeepers of Bangladesh Formed Police Unit (BANFPU) 1 of Rotation 8, providing services under the United Nations (UN) at Mali were awarded for their outstanding performances and  contribution recently. Ex additional superintendent of police in Jhenaidah and now serving in Magura Tareq Al Mehedi was one of the awarded peece keepers, said BANFPU sources. 

The award was conferred by UN peace keeping mission head Police Commissioner General Betina Petricia Bugani in the medal parade and peace medal distribution ceremony at Bamako of Mali. Minusma SRSG representative deputy chief of staff Ms. Christen Downee, Forces chief of staff Brigadier General Jo Michel Muniekh, principal security advisor Amanule Manjibo, Anpole chief of operation controller general Sarfadin Margui Mahamat, Formed Police Unit coordinator superintendent Samuel Sugaba Hammanjabu, Anpole chief of staff Abdu Adabu Musa, Consul of Bangladesh in Mali Simpara Mamadu Anfa and different ranked officials and police personnel serving at Minusma were present there.

BANFPU 1 contingent commander Hasan Mohammad Shawkat Ali welcomed the chief guest in the parade ground where efficient personnel led by BNFPU 1 platoon commander additional police super Mir Abidur Rahman exhibited a colourful parade event. The 139 member Bangladesh contingent were awarded with the medal there.
