The alternate screening and discussion of award winning movie ‘Live from Dhaka,’ embraced the screens at the auditorium of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) on Saturday.

Organised by ULAB Media Club (UMC), the event was attended by an enthusiastic crowd of young film makers and artists in the making along with faculties of ULAB and the lead actor of the film, Mostofa Monwar, along with the technical crew of ‘Live from Dhaka’ as the chief guest.

The five hour event encompassed two screenings and a public discussion amongst the cast and crew and the audience.

Directed by Abdullah Mohammad Saad, ‘Live from Dhaka’ has won accreditations both home and abroad. Originally released in March 2019, this low budget movie was shot without any professional equipments, and still garnered accolades like- the Silver Screen Best Director and Best Actor at the Singapore International Film Festival 2016 and was also screened at the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2017.

“We did not have much,” said Monwar, “We shot in natural lighting and kept the budget minimal that’s one reason why the movie is black and white, however the black and white scheme is also a visual interpretation of how Abdullah Mohammad Saad personally viewed Dhaka,” he further added while explaining the grey scale of the movie.

The event gathered much attention and positive remarks from the attendees and successfully instilled the idea that one does not truly need a lump sum of money or equipment to pull off an amazing movie because where there is a will there is definitely a way.
