All public universities in the nation have been urged to swiftly adopt D-documents (digital documents) by a full-time member of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Prof Md Sajjad Hossain.
During the training workshop titled "Obstacles in the implementation of D-documents by public universities and what to do to solve them," he made this remarks as the chief guest. The UGC auditorium hosted the full-day training session on Wednesday. He called for the establishment of paperless offices at all the universities.
"Everyone should be active to advance the government's initiative to establish a paperless office," stated Prof Hossain. Technology should be used to complete official tasks efficiently, swiftly, and transparently, to gain the abilities required to take on leadership roles in research, education, and innovation.
As special guest UGC Secretary Dr Ferdous Zaman said, funding allocations will be determined by how well public universities are implementing annual performance agreements from 2026. The government has guidelines for implementing the D-Document, which is a crucial component of Annual Performance Agreement (APA). Budgetary support for public universities that exhibit resistance to implementing the APA agreement may also be withheld.
Director of the IMCT Md Sultan Mahmud Bhuiyan presided ober the event. The Deputy Director of the Department of Information Management, Communication, and Training led the program. Registrars, focal points of APA from 40 public universities Mohammad Monir Ullah as well as officials in charge of D-document implementation took part in the training.
