The University Grants Commission (UGC) is creating a 'resource pool' of university professors to solve the teacher crisis facing at different universities. This was announced by Professor Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, the chairman of UGC, at a workshop on Monday.

The workshop was held to discuss the blended education system at the national level. Professor Dr. Haseena Khan, a UGC member, presided over the event. Dr. Alamgir said there is a shortage of professors and skilled teachers in new and remote universities. This makes it hard to provide quality education. To fix this, a resource pool of skilled and experienced professors will be formed. These professors will teach through a blended education system, which combines online and in-person learning. Dr. Alamgir urged all universities to adopt the blended education system. He mentioned that several policies have been prepared for higher education, but their implementation has been slow. He stressed that university councils and related parties should work sincerely to implement these policies.

At the workshop, Professor DR. KazI Muheymin-Us-Sakib from Dhaka University presented the "Blended Education Master Plan in Higher Education." Mohammad Tawrit, CEO of Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BDREN), discussed the 'Blended Learning Roadmap: Cost Modeling and Estimation.'

The workshop was conducted by UGC Additional Director Bishnu Mallick. Vice Chancellors, IQAC, ICT Directors, and representatives from 31 public and private universities in Dhaka and nearby areas attended the event. This new initiative aims to improve education quality by addressing the teacher shortage and promoting blended learning.
