The University Grants Commission (UGC) has instructed the 24 universities under the GST (General, Science, and Technology) cluster to immediately start the first-year admission process for the 2023-24 academic year. This directive was announced in a press release signed by UGC Public University Director Mohammad Jaminur Rahman on Monday.

According to the press release, a committee led by UGC member Professor Dr. Mohammad Tanzimuddin Khan has completed its investigation into reported irregularities in the admission process. With the investigation concluded, the UGC has advised the universities to resume admissions without delay. The previous instruction to suspend the operation of the batch admission website dashboard has also been withdrawn, allowing the admission process to move forward smoothly.

Earlier, on September 17, the UGC had formed a special investigation committee to examine complaints of irregularities in the GST cluster universities' admission system. During the investigation, all admission activities were suspended. The committee members were also informed that no changes or updates could be made to the admission server until further instructions were provided.

With the inquiry now complete, the UGC has urged the universities to begin the admission process quickly to ensure students can start their academic year on time without further delays.

This decision brings relief to the aspiring students, as it ensures that the admission process will now continue as planned.
