Bangladesh University Grants Commission member professor Muhammed Alamgir urged the South Asian countries’ educational institutions for regional cooperation to advance education and research.

He made the call in a panel discussion titled ‘preserving the past, ensuring opportunities for the future: synergy with digital education’.

Elsevier, an international publishing house based in the Netherlands, organised the discussion in India. The closing ceremony of the three-day Better Together Forum-2023 was held at the Indiana Palace in Jaipur on Thursday, according to a press release.

Professor Alamgir said that the exchange of the latest technology, innovation and development activity models among themselves was very important to advance higher education and research.

He said that as a leading scientific publisher, Elsevier should help emerging countries like Bangladesh to use e-resources easily.

He also said that quality research was not possible without access to up-to-date and quality research results worldwide.

Elsevier’s vice-president of Asia Pacific Research Solutions Saurabh Sharma, vice-president of Global Library Relations Gwen Evans also spoke and delivered the keynote address at the event.

Around 50 resource persons, including deans and librarians of various universities and institutes in India and Bangladesh, participated in the forum.
