University Grants Commission of Bangladesh has directed National University to suspend enrolling new students in the undergraduate (honours) programme for the academic year 2022-23 in the main campus.

In an office order, UGC on Tuesday directed NU to suspend all activities on campus including the admission of the students to undergraduate programmes. At the same time, an explanation has been sought within 5 working days asking why the initiative took to admit students to the on-campus graduation programme.

UGC issued the directive stating that the process of admitting students to undergraduate programmes in the university’s main campus was a clear violation of the National University Act, 1992.

This instruction has been given in view of the decision taken unanimously by the commission authorities in a meeting on Monday, said a press release.

Earlier on July 20, a notification has been published on NU’s website seeking applications from the students who are intended to enrol graduate programmes in LLB, BBA, Tourism and Hospitality Management and Nutrition and Food Science department.
