U-19 cricketers awarded

The young Tigers awarded for their big achievement of becoming the champions in the Under-19 Asia Cup Cricket thrashing United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 195 runs in the final at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. 

Bangladesh won all their three matches in the group stage and emerged as unbeaten champions of the tournament. 

Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby sides started their campaign against UAE in Group B match and made the campaign with 61 runs win against the hosts at ICC Academy Ground-2.  

The Young Tigers crushed minnows Japan by nine wickets at ICC at the same ground and earned the successive third win defeating Sri Lanka by six wickets.  

Bangladesh won over mighty India, eight times champions by four wickets in the semifinal o storm into the final. 

For becoming champions, the Young Tigers received $ 15 thousand as champions prize money from Asian Cricket Council (ACC).  

Meanwhile, wicketkeeper cum opening batter Ashquir Rahman Shibli was the highest scorer of the tournament.

He scored 378 runs from five outings with an average 75.6. The right-hand batter hammered two centuries in the tournament (116 not out against Sri Lanka and 129 runs against UAE in the final). He became man of the series in the tournament and received $ 750. Bangladesh team reached at Hazrat Shah Jalal Airport at 4:30 pm on Monday.  

Meanwhile, the Young guns also won the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2020. The young Tigers beat the men in Blue by three wickets by D/L method at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom, South Africa on February 9, 2020. 

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan invited U-19 team for dinner at his home today. Media Committee Chairman of the BCB Tanvir Ahmed Titu confirmed all.
