Members of Pabna RAB-12 camp detained two youths with pistols in a raid at Salimpur in Ishwardi of Pabna. They were arrested at 2 pm on Monday. The arrested youths are Shishir Ali, 22, son of Rafiqul Islam of Maniknagar Purbpara village in Salimpur union of the upazila and Maruf Islam, 19, son of Matiar Ali of the same village. The two have been handed over to Ishwardi police.
According to RAB, Shishir-Rafiqul had been carrying out criminal activities in Maniknagar village in Salimpur of the upazila for a long time. A group of RAB members led by Aminul Kabir Tarafdar, the company commander in charge of the Pabna-12 RAB camp, took up position in the area around 2pm on Monday on the basis of secret information that they were staying in Maniknagar village. When they tried to flee, they were caught by the RAB members.
A foreign revolver and two rounds of ammunition were recovered from the bodies of the two youths. The RAB further said that Shishir Ali and Rafiqul Islam were identified criminals in the area. For a long time, they had been carrying out criminal activities under the threat of weapons. The two have been handed over to Ishwardi police after a case was filed against Shishir and Rafiqul for illegal possession of weapons.
