Two toddlers drowned in a pond in Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria district on Sunday.The incident occurred at Dhitpur Madhyapara village under Shahbazpur union I Sarail upazila on Sunday noon.
The deceased were identified as Sihabul Islam Adil, 2, son of Ashraf Mia, resident of Dhitpur Madhyapara village in the upazila, and Arabin, 2, son of Ramzan Mia, resident of the same area. They are paternal cousins.
Local sources said in the afternoon, the two children were playing at home. At one point, without the family's notice, they fell into the nearby pond. Despite extensive searching, the family couldn't locate them. Later, they found one of the children's bodies floating in the pond and recovered it. After further searching, they found and recovered the body of the second child. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sarail police station Abdur Razzak confirmed the matter. He said upon receiving the news, I inquired further. It was confirmed that the sons of two brothers drowned in the water.
