Two local leaders of Swechchhasebok League were killed in a road accident in Kamalnagar upazila of Laxmipur on Thursday night.
The deceased were identified as Partho Kumar Das, 40, president of Hajirhat union Swechchhasebok League, and Ratan Kumar Das, 35, the organizing secretary of the same unit. They were residents of Karunanagar village in the upazila.
Torabganj Union Parishad Chairman Faisal Ahmed Ratan said a fish-laden pick up van rammed into a motorcycle on which Ratan and Partho were riding in Torabganj area around 11:00 pm, leaving Ratan dead on the spot and Partho critically injured. Partho was rushed to Kamalnagar Upazila Health Complex where doctor declared him dead. Kamalnagar Police Station Officer in-charge Iqbal Hossain confirmed the matter.
