Two school students die from snakebite in Thakurgaon

Two school students died from snakebite in two separate incidents at Danrhat Syedpur village under Begunbari union and Yakubpur village under Salandar union in Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Jannat, 12, daughter of Jakirul Islam, resident of Danart Syedpur village under Begunbari union and Aditya, 7, son of Sonaton, resident of Yakubpur village under Salandar union in the Sadar Upazila.

The family members of the deceased said Jannat went to sleep as usual in her house on Thursday night. A snake bit her while she was sleeping after 12:00 am. She felt pain due to that. Later, the venom gradually spread through her body. She died while she was being taken to Sadar Hospital at dawn. Her family said she was studying in seventh grade of Syedpur High School.

On the other hand, Aditya was bitten by a snake during his sleep as well. Later, Aditya suddenly understood he was bitten by a snake. He vomited several times after the snake bit him. His family rushed him to Thukurgaon general Hospital. He was transferred to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment as his condition worsened. However, he died on the way to the hospital.

Aditya was a student of second grade in Kalukhetro Government Primary School in that union. 

Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Belayet Hossain said he heard the news of the death of two students. This type of unforeseen death is not expected. He advised everyone to be more careful.
