Two passengers of an auto-rickshaw were killed and two others were injured in a road accident as a truck hit the auto-rickshaw at Dhanbari in Tangail on Friday.
The accident occurred at Baghil area of Dhopakhali in Dhanbaria at around 7:30am. The deceased were identified as Abu Rayhan, son of Abdur Rahman, resident of Jagira Chala village under Jodunathpur union of Dhanbari Upazila of the district and Mofazzal Hossain, resident of Ukhiabari village. The identity of the injured could not be known immediately.
Dhanbari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Idris Ali said A truck was heading to Modhupur from Tangail. It hit a battery-run auto-rickshaw in Baghil area of Dhanbari, leaving a passenger of the auto-rickshaw dead on the spot and three others injured.
On information, police personnel of Dhanbari police station and rescue persons of Dhanbari Fire Service rushed to the spot and rescued the body. The injured were taken to Modhupur Upazila Health Complex where another injured succumbed to his injury. The truck was seized and taken to the police station. The driver fled the scene after the incident.
