Two killed in road crash in Sunamganj

Two people were killed in a collision between a motorcycle and a battery-run auto rickshaw near Rajapur Bridge on Sachna-Beheli road in Jamalganj upazila of Sunamganj on Sunday night.

The deceased were identified as Ashik Nur, 40, son of the late Shukur Mahmud, resident of Alipur village in Beheli Union of the upazila, and his friend Suleman Mia, 38, son of the late Jamal Mia, resident of Baghani village in the same union.

Jamalganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) S M Kamal Hussain confirmed the matter on Monday morning.

After the accident, the battery-run auto rickshaw driver fled the scene, but the villagers seized the vehicle.

According to police and family sources, Ashik Nur and Suleman Mia returning home from Sachna Bazar on a motorcycle when they collided head-on with a battery-run auto rickshaw.

Ashik Nur died on the spot, while Suleman Mia was taken to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital in critical condition, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
