Two people were killed when a pickup van rammed a parked truck at Chandra Palli Bidyut area of the Dhaka-Tangail highway at Kaliakoir upazila in Gazipur district early Friday.
Mohammad Shahadat Hossain, officer-in-charge of Naojor Highway Police Station, said a chicken-laden pickup van rammed a truck from behind which was parked on Tangail-bound lane in front of a filling station at around 4:00am, leaving the driver and two helpers of the van gravely injured.
Shamim, 18, son of Pannu Mia of Manikganj district, and Abul Kashem, 21, son of Md Abdus Samad of Kurigram district, were taken to Kaliakoir Upazila Health Complex where doctor pronounced them dead.
Police seized the vehicles and the bodies were handed over to the family without autopsy upon their request, he added.
