Two people were killed and three others injured as a microbus and an auto-rickshaw collided head-on in Koilabari truck terminal area under Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district on Friday evening.
The deceased were identified as Ziaur Rahman, 38, son of Pirojpur village under Shahbajpur union of Shibganj upazila and Jahangir Alam, 37, son of Jane Alam of Mannur More area under Bholahat upazila, both are in Chapainawabganj district. The injured were Sumon Ali, 40, son of Ashraful Islam of Pirojpur village, Khairul Islam, 54, son of Abdul Malek of Doulatbari village and Siam, 5, son of Jahid Ali of Binodpur Khasherhat village, all under Shibganj upazila.

Police and local sources said the accident occurred around 4.30pm as a Sonamasjid-bound microbus and an auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction collided head-on in Koilabari truck terminal area, leaving Ziaur Rahman and Jahangir Alam dead on the spot.
The sources further added that all the victims were the passengers of the auto-rickshaw.
Being informed, police from Shibganj thana recovered the bodies and fire fighters took the injured persons to the upazila health complex.
Police also seized the two vehicles, said the officer-in-charge (OC) of Shibganj thana Farid Hossain.
