Villagers of Krishnachandrapur village at Moheshpur upazila in Jhenaidah caught two of the three ‘rapists’ and handed over them to police for their alleged involvement in violating a class seven schoolgirl on Wednesday night.
The arrestees were identified as Shahabul Islam Shanti, 20, son of Mujibar Rahman and Raqibul Hasan, 21, son of Sujan Mia of Saratala village of the same upazila.
Locals said that a class seven girl when came outside the house in the night to respond natural call, three miscreants took her in to a nearest banana plots and violated her one after another. Hearing the screaming locals rushed there and caught Shahabul Islam Shanti and Raqibul Hasan on the spot. Another managed to flee during the night.
Officer-in-Charge of Moheshpur Police Station Morshed Hossain Khan said they have arrested two of the rapists while conducting drives to nab the remaining one.
A case was filed with Moheshpur police station and sent the girl to Jhenidah Sadar hospital for medical examination on Thursday.
