Two held for casting fake votes

The police arrested two people for casting fake votes in Rangpur's Mithapukur Upazila Parishad elections on Tuesday.

The arrestees were identified as Ruman Mia, 27, son of Emdad Mia of Durgapur village in the upazila, and Rashed Mia, 28, son of Sultan Mia of the same village.

Ferdous Wahid, officer-in-charge of Mithapukur Police Station, said the two people were arrested from Shathibari College Centre while casting fake votes. Legal action will be taken against the arrested persons, he said.

The total number of voters in Mithapukur upazila is 4,46,396. Among them, the number of male voters is 2,22,147 while female voters 2,24,245 and four voters of third gender.
