The court has sentenced two people, including an uncle, to life imprisonment for killing a disabled child in Belkuchi, Sirajganj. At the same time, another year's imprisonment without work has been given for non-payment of a fine of Tk 20,000.

Judge Fazle Khoda Md Nazir of Sirajganj District and Sessions Judge Court gave this verdict on Tuesday afternoon.

The convicts are Saddam Hossain (33), the uncle of the deceased child, and Akbar Ali (44), son of Amjad Ali of the same village, and former UP member Akbar Ali (44) of Chhota Bara Kharua village of Belkuchi upazila.

PP Gazi Abdul Rahman of District and Sessions Judge Court confirmed this fact. According to the complaint of the case, there was a land dispute with the family of Saddam Hussain of Chota Bara Kharua village of Belkuchi upazila with his cousins. Saddam Hussein plans to kill his elder brother's speech-impaired daughter China Khatun (11) to discipline the cousins. Local UP member Akbar Ali assisted him in this work.

On the afternoon of December 25, 2017, China Khatun came to visit Saddam Hussein's house. China fell asleep after dinner. At night, Saddam Hussain brought China Khatun out of the house while she was sleeping and strangled her to death. Later, he brought the body to the fenced Kharua pasture and cut China Khatun's throat with a knife to ensure death and left the body behind. The next morning, the local residents found the body of China Khatun lying in the fenced Kharua pasture. On hearing the news, China Khatun's father Zahurul Pramanik came to the scene and alleged that his daughter was killed in a land dispute.

Later, the opponent filed a murder case against the cousins at the police station. Police investigation revealed that Saddam Hussain killed his nephew China Khatun at the instigation of UP member Akbar Ali to frame his opponent due to a land dispute. Later the police arrested Saddam Hussain and Akbar Ali. They confessed to the murder of the two and gave a confessional statement in the court. After receiving the testimony of 12 witnesses in the case, the court gave its verdict on Tuesday.
