A Dhaka court on Thursday sentenced two persons to death and eight others to life imprisonment in a case filed over kidnapping a children and realizing ransom from his family, reports BSS. Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-7 Judge Khadem Ul Qayes came up with the judgement.
The two death-row convicts are Moshiur Rahman Montu, 40 and Mizanur Rahman Mizan, 35.
The court sentenced Md Rezaul Karim, 36, Nazrul Islam, 32, Abdullah Al Mamun, 38, Iqbal Hossain Shuvo, 28, Sajib Ahammed Kamal, 47, Md Alim Hossain Chandan, 27, Kaqser Mridha, 25, and Md Reza Mridha, 30, to life imprisonment. According to the case documents, the convicts kidnapped children Abir from Banani over-bridge area on a day in May, 2015, and demanded Taka 10 crore from his family as ransom.
His family paid the kidnappers Taka two crore and forced to inform RAB as they could not get Abir back. RAB later detained the kidnappers and recovered Abir. RAB also managed to recover Taka 1.80 crore from the kidnappers.
