Police detained two alleged members of a fraudulent gang on charge of their involvement in cheating people in Rajshahi city.
The arrested persons were identified as Tasfin Ahmed, 33, and his brother Foisal Ahmed, sons of Motaharul Islam, a resident of Luxmipur area under Rajpara Police Station in the city. On a tip-off, a police team conducted a sudden raid at their residence and arrested them. Quoting their confessional statement, police said the detained persons in collaboration with one Rubel Sarker Russel, 33, who used to identify himself as officer of DB, grabbed Taka 95 lakh from a physician from July 15 to September 30 last.
They collected the huge money from Dr Azizul Haque alias Abdullah, a retired professor of the department of medicine in Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in the name of relieving him from a fake corruption case.
To get relief from the fraudulence Dr Haque lodged a complaint with Rajpara Police Station a couple of days back.
"We have arrested the two people after the best uses of modern information and communication technologies and are trying our level best efforts to bring Rubel Sarker to book as soon as possible," said Sazid Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.
