Two poor farmers in Ishwardi Upazila were provided Combined Harvesting machines under Agri Mechanical Project at 50% discount.
The farmers received the machines at a simple ceremony held in the Upazila Agri Staff Office on Tuesday.
The actual price of a machine is Tk 32 lakh but the farmers got it for only Tk 16 lakh and 50 thousand.
The farmers are Roish Uddin from Dashuria Union of Athailshimul village and Shaheedul Islam of Chaknariacha Bagbaria village in Muladuli Union.
Dr Md Jamal Uddin, deputy director of Agriculture Extension Directorate (DAE), Khamar Bari Pabna handed over the keys of the combined harvesters to the farmers.
Using the machines farmers can harvest ripe paddy, wheat, mustard and also can thresh those crops.
Among others, Subir Chandra Das, UNO, Agriculturist Mita Sarkar, Upazila Agriculture Officer and Jahir Rayhan, Officer, Agriculture Extension Directorate, Ishwardi were present in the programme.
