Two drug peddlers were detained with 448 bottles of phensedyl by police while the duo was smuggling the contraband syrup in a vegetable laden truck at Madhupur area of the Jhenaidah Sadar Upazila on Sunday.
The detainees are Omedul Haque, son of Musa Karim, resident of Bakandia village under Jibannagr Upazila of Chuadanga and Rasel Ahmed, son of Abul Hossain, resident of Hatikata village of Rajbari.
Additional Police Super Imran Zakaria said Sub-Inspector Rokonuzzaman, Sub-Inspector Nipu Saha and Sub-Inspector Sohag Hossain of Jhenaidah Sadar Police station set a check post at Madhupur area of the Upazila on the day.
They raided a mini truck on suspicion and seized 448 bottles of phensedyl from the vegetable laden truck.
Police personnel also held two drug peddlers and filed a case in this connection.
