Two-day inter-university hackathon competition concludes at DU

The 'Second Code Samurai Inter-University Hackathon Competition 2024' held at Dhaka University ended on Saturday evening at Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhavan Auditorium. Shahjalal Science and Technology University's team 'Define Coders' became the champion.

The 1st and 2nd runners-up were Dhaka University team 'DU-Prometheus' and 'DU Diligence' respectively. Prime Minister's Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman Fazlur Rahman attended the closing ceremony of the competition as the chief guest and handed over the prizes to the winners.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal presided over the function. Ambassador of Japan in Dhaka Iwama Kiminori, Chairman of Payra Port Authority Rear Admiral Abdullah Al Mamun Chowdhury, Chief Representative of JICA assigned to Bangladesh Mr. Ichiguchi Tamohidi and Jetro's Country Representative Mr. Yuji Ando was the special guest. Besides, Dhaka University Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department Chairman Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Razzak and the convener of Code Samurai 2024 Professor Dr. Upma Kabir. Professor of CSE department. Md. Mamunur Rashid conducted the programme. At the beginning of the programme , popular Japanese magician Shutogawa performed charming magic.

Prime Minister's Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman Fazlur Rahman said that the long-standing strong friendly relationship between Bangladesh and Japan has been reflected through this arrangement. Mentioning this event as very timely, he said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, incredible development and progress in information technology has taken place in all areas of the country.

As a result, Bangladesh has now transformed into a 'Digital Bangladesh' and is moving towards becoming a Smart Bangladesh. He appealed to the young programmers and technologists to prepare themselves in this advancement of technology, innovation and prevention of misuse.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal congratulated the winners and said that this hackathon competition will play an important role in developing our students, especially the young generation as skilled technologists and human resources.

He said, our young programmers are working with great skill and reputation in the country and abroad. He expressed hope that Bangladesh will go further with the combined efforts and joint ventures of this skilled young generation and Japan's advanced technology.
