For the first time in the history of Bangladesh, Air Traffic Management Meeting is being held at Dhaka.
Civil Aviation Authority Bangladesh (CAAB) chairman Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman inaugurated the 7th Air Traffic Management Coordination Group Meeting as chief guest at Le Meridian hotel in the capital on Wednesday.
As per the CAAB information, all countries will discuss about the airspace of Bangladesh, the security of aircraft flying over the southern Bay of Bengalskyline, the air traffic service and the Regional Search and Rescue Service at this year's meeting.
It is to be noted, as per International Civil Aviation Organization-Asia Pacific (ICAO-APAC), Regional Sub Office (RSO) recommendation, with each countries first word BIMT Group was formed.
Its main aim is to provide solutions on various issues related to safe air traffic service among the neighboring counties.
Earlier, the past six meetings were held sequentially at India, Myanmar, and Thailand. In its continuation, the 7th meeting is being organised in Bangladesh.
Two representatives of Airport Authority of India, two from Department of Civil Aviation, Myanmar, three from Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Ltd, one from Monitoring Agency for Asia Region (MAAR), and two from International Air Transport Association (IATA) have joined in the meeting.
Apart of them, representatives of Prime Minister Office, Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry, Home Ministry, Foreign Ministry, Bangladesh Air Force, Bangladesh Navy, CAAB high officials and other representatives from the government and private airliner also joined in the meeting.
