Two children drowned in a pond at Purbopara village under Dhulauri union under Santhia Upazila of Pabna on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Rohan, 3, son of Imran Hossain and Yeamin, 4, son of Shahin Ali, residents of the village.
Confirming the matter, Dhulauri Union ward no. 5 Member Moyen Uddin said the children drowned in a pond near to their houses at 11:00 am when they went there to pick waterlily flower.
Locals said Yeamin and Rohan drowned at a pond near to their houses at around 11:00am when they went to collect waterlily. They didn’t know how to swim. Later, locals took the children to Upazila Health Complex where on duty doctor declared them dead.
