Two children tragically died after drowning in the pond at Pekua in Cox's Bazar. The incident took place at Sundaripara area of Rajakhali Union of the upazila around 11 o'clock on Thursday (August 11). The deceased Ishrat Jahan (6) is the daughter of Abul Kasem, a Saudi resident of the area.
It is known that on Thursday morning, Ishrat Jahan was playing in the yard of the house. At some point he fell into a nearby pond.
The family members saw him floating in the water of the pond.
At that time he was rescued and rushed to Pekua Government Hospital where the doctor declared him dead.
Meanwhile, a three-year-old child named Md. Rohan Mia drowned in the water of a pond in Pekuar Char area of Ujantia Union at around 9 am on Wednesday.
He fell into the pond while playing in the yard of his house.
Later Morsheda Begum found the baby's grandmother floating. Locals rescued him and took him to Pekua Government Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him brought dead.
Rohan Mia is the son of Kamal Hossain of Char area in Pekua. Ujantia UP former panel chairman Shah Jamal confirmed the matter.
According to the locals, the mother of the deceased Rohan took Rohan to his father's house a few months ago as there was no relationship between the husband and wife.
A few days ago Rohan was brought by his father Kamal Hussain to Dada's house.
Rohan lived with his grandmother.
