Two children drowned in a pond in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria district on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Masum Mia, 9, son of Rezaul Islam, resident of Charnal village under municipal area, and Fahim Mia, 10, son of Delwar Hossain, resident of Akchina village in the upazila. They were cousins.
The incident occurred at Dharmapur village under Kharera union in Kasba upazila of the district on Friday afternoon.
The tragic death of two children has cast a shadow of grief on the families.
Locals said the mother of the two children Bilkis Begum and Lipi Begum went to visit their father Jitu Mia’s home along with their two children at Dharmapur village on Thursday afternoon.
Masum and his cousin Fahim were missing from 11 am on Friday morning. Later, when they could not be found anywhere, the people of the house went to search for them in the pond beside the house.
They were recovered from the pond at one point of the search. They were taken to Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared them dead.
