A 30-year-old man’s body was recovered from Khanpur union in Manirampur upazila of Jashore on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Jahangir Alam, son of former member of Kulatia Union Parishad (UP) Nurul Islam of the upazila.
Manirampur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Moniruzzaman confirmed the matter.
The victim’s father-in-law, Mafizur Rahman, a member of Khanpur UP, said he had a conversation with Jahangir over his mobile phone around 1:30 am on Friday when he was on the way home from Dhaka by bus.
Jahangir could not be reached over the phone despite repeated attempts since the morning, he said.
Being informed by the locals in the morning, they found the body lying by Satnal Jhora Bridge under Khanpur UP, the father-in-law said.
The body was sent to the Jashore General Hospital morgue for autopsy, said the OC.
No injury marks were spotted on the body. The exact reason behind the death will be ascertained after getting the autopsy report, he added.
Faridpur Correspondent adds: A 21-year-old youth's body was recovered from underneath a bridge in Faridpur's Bhanga upazila on Friday.
The deceased was idnetified as Sourav Malo, a student of Nagarkanda College.Md Ziarul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhanga Police Station, confirmed the matter.
Sourav's cousin, Sujan Malo said, he was on his way home from Dhaka on Thursday. His phone was out of reach after 5:00 pm.
His family informed Bhanga Police Station that he went missing and kept searching for him.
Locals spotted his body under the Bhanga bus-stand bridge on Friday morning. On information, police recovered the body.
There are signs of injury on his head, said the OC.
The body will be sent to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College (BSMMC) morgue for autopsy, added the police official.
