Police have apprehended the prime suspect behind the triple murder case in Trishal, Mymensingh.
The accused, Ali Hossain, was captured in Sreepur, Gazipur, on Wednesday night.
Investigations reveal that Hossain, driven by financial distress, humiliation, and emotional turmoil, strangled his wife and two children to death.
District Police Additional Superintendent Shamim Hossain disclosed that following a tip-off about skeletal remains discovered in Kakchar Nayapara village of Rampur Union, the police unearthed three half-melted bodies buried in the ground on Tuesday noon.
Subsequently, the victims were identified as Amena Khatun (25) and her two sons, Abu Bakr Siddiqui (4) and Anas (2 years and 6 months), by their relatives who arrived at the police station.
A case was filed against Ali Hossain by Amena Khatun's mother, Hasina Khatun, prompting the District Intelligence Police to investigate into the matter. Hossain, who confessed to the gruesome crime during interrogation, cited mounting debts, societal scorn, and familial struggles as motives for the murders.
Hossain, previously convicted for rape and strangulation in 2012, had served a five-year sentence and was released on bail in August 2017, with the case still pending.
According to police accounts, Hossain meticulously executed his plan, strangling his wife and children while they slept before burying their bodies in an agricultural field behind their home to conceal his heinous act.
