Nurul Huda, the Managing Director (MD) of Icon Group, has been banned from travelling abroad. On Sunday, Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge and Senior Special Judge Mohammad As-Shams Jaglul Hossain issued this ban.
According to Court Inspector Amir Hossain of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), the court issued this directive based on the ACC's application. The investigating officer of Nurul Huda's corruption case, ACC Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya, filed the application seeking the travel ban. The ACC's Special Public Prosecutor, Mahmud Hossain Jahangir, conducted the hearing. Following the hearing, the court imposed a travel ban on Nurul Huda.
The ACC mentioned in their application that allegations of corruption have been received against Nurul Huda, the MD of Icon Group, and his associates. Nurul Huda has allegedly amassed a fortune through embezzling customers' funds and is also accused of money laundering.
The investigation into these allegations is ongoing. The application further stated that there is credible information suggesting that Nurul Huda might flee abroad. Therefore, a travel ban is necessary to ensure a proper investigation.
