Minister Muhammad Faruq Khan highlighted the crucial role of travel agents in maintaining global connectivity during a ceremony organised by the Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh on Sunday.
Speaking as the chief guest, Minister Faruq Khan underscored the importance of travel agents in connecting people worldwide. He emphasised the need for agents to uphold integrity, ensuring customers are not deceived or inconvenienced when travelling abroad.
He reaffirmed the government's commitment to public service under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, noting the cooperation received from travel agents in this endeavour. The minister assured policy support to facilitate their duties effectively.
Addressing the need for skill development in the tourism sector, Minister Faruq Khan stressed the importance of linguistic proficiency among trainees. He expressed plans to establish a tourism university in Bangladesh to enhance the industry's workforce capabilities, urging stakeholders' sincere cooperation.
Regarding online travel agencies, the minister warned against irregularities, promising legal actions against violators to maintain fair practices.
The event also featured speeches by Bangladesh Tourism Corporation Chairman AKM Aftab Hossain Pramanik, ATAB President Abdus Salam Aref, and others, with Asfia Jannat Saleh moderating the programme.
