A day-long training program on ‘Effective Communication Skills’ was held on Sunday at Prof. Mohammad Habibullah Conference Hall of Dhaka University (DU).
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the program as the chief guest. Student Promotion & Support Unit of DU organized this event, first of its kind in the history of the university.
Advisor of Student Promotion & Support Unit of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Rezaul Kabir presided over the inaugural session while Additional Secretary of Government of Bangladesh Mohammad Mukhlesur Rahman Sarker, Deputy President of Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB) Lt. Col. Tanvir Ahmed and Founder & Executive Consultant of Idean Consulting Mark Anupom Mollick addressed it as resource person.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman stressed the need for development of communication skills of the students to enhance their employability for national and international job markets. He said, Student Promotion and Support Unit has been established at Dhaka University to prepare the students as skilled human resources as well as make them competent for competitive job market. This unit will also play an effective role to promote financially challenged students, he mentioned. He urged the students to prepare themselves as capable skilled human resources by utilizing opportunities and time properly. DU students have to learn ways to present themselves smartly to corporate world, the VC pointed out. He called upon the students to play pioneering role in making Smart Bangladesh through equipping themselves with technology-based knowledge and innovations.
It may be mentioned that 150 students from the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Social Sciences of DU participated at the training program.
