Regional agriculture research centre (RARS) in Jashore had arranged a two-day long training for the farmers, mechanics and agriculture machineries users at RARS training centre on Wednesday.
The machineries and agriculture equipment were invented by Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute (BARI).
Presided over by RARS chief scientific officer (CSO) Kawser Uddin Ahammed, RARS scientific officers Rokanuzzaman and Ataur Rahman attended as special guests. A total of 60 farmers of Bagherpara upazila in Jashore participated in the training course.
CSO Kawser Uddin Ahammed in his speech during inauguration of the training session as chief guest, said the farmers throughout the country have been producing surplus food-grains in last few years. The nation has been consuming the same and the excessive food-grains are exported to some of the foreign countries. It has been helping earn forex and to strengthen socio-economic state of the farmers, dependency on food import against huge forex every year.
The chief guest said now it has become a challenge before the nation to ensure nutritious and safe food-grains for the nation. As the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been giving emphasis on safe and nutritious foods for a healthier nation, the farmers should produce nutritious and safer food. CSO also urged upon the participants to change their lot using modern machineries and equipment invented by BARI.
