Training course on fall armyworm held in Jhenaidah

Director of Agriculture Information Service (AIS) Kartik Chandra Chakrabarty has said Bangladesh will be ranking one of the countries in the world among five developed countries when the globe was witnessing global havoc corona virus pandemic since early 2020. 

Kartik Chandra Chakrabarty said the people of the country were at a loss when Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with all of his family members were brutally killed 

on August 15 massacre by the evil forces in 1975. 

But the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the people had already regain their faith and confidence to make the country Sonar Bangla as dreamed by Bangabandhu with hard labour and skill.

He said although the development activities of the globe was hampered due to corona pandemic, our country will stand up keeping its head as designed by the Prime Minister under the delta plan. But the people, especially, the farmers should play active roe to go with the time deploying all efforts for safer food production. He gave emphasis on participation of young and educated people under the leadership of the minister of agriculture.

Assistant deputy director (crops) of the department of agriculture extension (DAE) in Jhenaidah Mosharraf Hossain presided over the inaugural session where AIS director Kartik Chandra Chakrabarty was inaugurating the day long training course on preventing Fall Armyworm (FAW) on maize at the conference of Jhenaidah DAE on Saturday. 

The speakers said the AIS in each of the upazilas have potential to provide information on modern technology-based farming, fertilizer management, information disseminations and so which have been helping a lot in the respective area farmers. They urged to utilize the information centres for the interest of the farmers staying at doorsteps. 

Regional farm broadcasting Officer Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni conducted the session while Jhenaidah agriculture training institute (ATI) principal Zahidul Amin, Upazila agriculture officer Jahidul Karim attended as special guests. Agriculture information communication officer Ahsan Habib also present during the time.

A total of 30 participants including president and general secretary of Agriculture Information Service centre committee members from Jhenaidah Sadar, Kaliganj, Kotchndpur, Moheshpur, Shailkupa and Harinakundu participated in the training course.
