The train services from Rajshahi resumed on a limited scale on Thursday after 12 days of unrest centring the anti-quota movement.
In the morning, two trains -- Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj bound 'Local 563' and the Rajshahi-Khulna bound 'Mohananda Express – left Rajshahi rail station.
Abdul Karim, station manager of Rajshahi Railway Station, informed that the trains ran smoothly, without facing any untoward incident.
However, no decision had yet been taken by the railway authorities to run the intercity trains, he added.
It is learnt during the 'complete shutdown' programme on July 18, the movement of train services throughout the country was suspended following the arson attack on the railway track at Mohakhali in Dhaka.
The railway movement was also hampered in various areas outside Dhaka for the same reason. As a result, the movement of train services remained suspended till August 1 from July 18 to and from Rajshahi. However, a goods-laden train travelled to Harian railway station from Rajshahi on July 24.
