Train driver, 2 others held for stealing oil

The Railway Security Force arrested three people, including the driver, for stealing oil from the engine of an oil tanker at Parbatipur in Dinajpur. They were apprehended from the Haldibari railgate area of the Parbatipur-Phulbari railway on Sunday. During that time, 210 litres of diesel were seized from them.

On this regard, police arrested, Rahmat Nagar Mahalla Ershad Ali’s son, train driver (locomaster) Md. Selim, assistant driver, Ujjal Hossain, son of Anshar Ali of Power House Colony and son of Tofazzal Hossain of Power House Colony, a trader of stolen oil, Hasan Ali.

Parbatipur Railway Security Force (RNB) Inspector Emdadul Haque said that according to the information of the Railway Intelligence Department, the RNB, the Intelligence Department and the unarmed branch took up position near Parbatipur station. 

Just before entering Parbatipur station at around 4 pm, the driver and his assistant stopped the train at Haldibari Railgate area and started stealing oil from the engine. RNB members chased Hasan Ali, the buyer of the stolen oil, and detained Ujjal, the assistant driver, and Selim, the driver, from below the engine.

Kafi Ul Alam, loco in-charge of Parbatipur Diesel Shed, said, “The oil-carrying BTO train was coming from Khulna to Parbatipur. Locomaster Hossain Md. Selim and Assistant Locomaster Ujjwal Hossain were driving the train from Ishwardi.
