Being halted by a Traffic Sergeant, a motor-biker without wearing a helmet became outrageous and attacked the Sergeant, beating and injuring him seriously. Injured traffic sergeant has been admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital with multiple injuries.
The incident occurred at 'Oitihjjho Chattar' of Bilsimla of the city around 1-00 pm Tuesday. Injured traffic sergeant Bipul Kumar has been admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital with multiple injuries in two arms and various parts of his body. Constable Ismael Hossain was also observing duty with Sergeant Bipul Kumar. However, Ismael refused to comment over the incident.
Police held two persons for quizzing in this connection. One of them is a tea-stall owner while the other is a carpenter shop employee of the area.
Eye-witnesses said, a young man was driving his motor-bike without wearing any helmet. Traffic Sergeant Bipul Kumar halted him and wanted to see his documents regarding the bike. He also started to file a case against the biker when the young man locked into an altercation with him.
At one stage, he took a wood-stick from the furniture shop and suddenly start to beat him with the wooden-stick. Being hit by the wooden-stick, traffic sergeant Bipul fell on the ground when local people rushed to the spot and rescued him. The motor-bike rider, however, managed to escape by leaving his motor-bike.
Later police high-ups visited the spot.
Two persons held by police informed the name of the accused motor-biker is Belal. He lives in Luxmipur Bhatapara area of the city. He regularly sits and gossips at the roadside tea-stall there.
Majharul Islam, Officer-in-charge of Rajpara police station informed, Sergeant Bipul got hurt in his two arms and also there are injury marks in other parts of his body. Legal action will be taken in this connection after talking to the injured sergeant.
RMP Spokesperson Golam Ruhul Quddus informed, attacker young man escaped by abandoning the motor-bike. Police were trying to arrest him.
