Police arrested a businessman named Regan Sardar, 30, along with 14 sacks of VGD rice in Atrai Upazila of Naogaon on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident took place at Bandaikhara area in Hatkalupara union of the upazila. The detainee was sent to Naogaon Jail on Wednesday morning.
It is learned that after the distribution of rice in 7 unions, the tag officer and Ansar members saw the VGD rice being distributed at Regan's shop while coming to Bandaikhara Bazar. Then, they informed the Upazila Nirbahi Officer and seized 14 sacks containing 30 kg rice each and detained the trader.
The detainee Regan is the son of Nurul Sardar of Bandaikhara Masterpara. Atrai Police Station OC Moslem Uddin said Reagan was detained along with 14 sacks of VGD rice. A case has been filed with Atrai Police Station in this connection.
