Trade bodies greet interim govt, call for ensuring congenial environment

Country's leading trade chambers and professional bodies in the financial sector greet and congratulate the newly formed interim government under the leadership of nobel laureate and globally acclaimed economist, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

Expressing greetings and congratulations, the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) has urged the new government to take immediate measures for restoration of law and order & revival of economic activities.

In an official message, released on Sunday, DCCI also extends condolences to the deceased in the recent student-mass protest.  

DCCI congratulates and welcomes the interim government for taking on the task of holding the nation together at such a difficult time, also 

DCCI wishes all out success of the government in quick revival of law and order and return to normal economic conditions and restoration of democratic political environment will also take place soon.

DCCI requests the government to take necessary steps to end the vandalism and anarchy as soon as possible.  Addressing law and order situation and economic stability are immediate and utmost priorities in the current context. 

DCCI said it is imperative that economic operations resume at the fullest extent. The private sector requires prompt and substantial support to overcome the setbacks caused by recent disruptions. A conducive environment must be established to facilitate economic recovery featured by political and regulatory certainty. 

"By ensuring a stable political environment, we can rebuild our businesses’ confidence and activities in home and abroad. 

We urge for collective efforts from all stakeholders including the interim Government, private sector and political parties to overcome the consequence of recent damages through a rigorous and sustainable economic recovery process", the message said.  

Taking into account the loss and damage to the economy, DCCI request the new government to take steps to revive the image of the economy and reinstall positive growth trend. 

Bangladesh Economic Association (BEA) expresses greetings and congratulates Prof. Dr Muhammad Yunus as the Chief Adviser and his others Advisers.

In a message, released on Saturday, BEA said that the association believes that the interim government under the leadership of Nobel Peace Prize winning economist Professor Muhammad Yunus, will be successful in resolving various socio-economic and political problems of Bangladesh and to ensure wellbeing of the country.

BEA mentioned that Professor Yunus is a lifelong member of the association.

"Muhammad Yunus and Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed have made special contribution in various activities of the association. Bangladesh Economic Association is grateful to them for that", BEA added.

Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) has congratulated Dr. Muhammad Yunus as the Chief Advisor to the Interim Government of Bangladesh.

In a message, the BCI President Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury (Parvez) said, "we are not only proud but also honored to have a world-acclaimed economist like you as the Chief Advisor to the Government. We believe in youth and student leadership. Your recognition as an economist is not only in Bangladesh but also in the international world, an important and significant achievement for us".
