A field hospital has opened on the Baharchhara High School ground on Kabita Chattar Road of the seaside tourist city of Cox’s Bazar as part of the government’s effort to tackle the second wave of coronavirus.
Besides, the Cox's Bazar District Corona Prevention Committee and the district administration have taken measures to tackle the virus wave with executive magistrates conducting drives in the beach area.
Helaluddin Ahmed, Senior Secretary to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD), inaugurated the 50-bed Covid-19 ‘Sari Isolation Centre and Medical Centre’; on Thursday.
Helaluddin said a team led the local deputy commissioner Kamal Hossain has been working since the beginning of the virus outbreak.
“No more lockdowns will be imposed. The new centre has all the facilities to tackle the second wave of virus If the vaccine to arrive it will, in fact, not be easily accessible to general people. So, stay safe. Currently, the mask is your real vaccine. Always keep hands clean. Avoid public gatherings and follow hygiene rules, he added.
Deputy Commissioner Kamal Hossain said, "We are being very strict in dealing with the second wave.”
“Extensive preparations have been made under the direction of the Prime Minister. Mobile courts are conducting raids to implement hygiene rules. Anyone defies instructions will face imprisonment,” he added.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) said. Amin Al Parvez said that the development partner organization 'Fendship' has taken the responsibility of running this isolation and medical center under the patronage of Cox's Bazar district administration. The medical center, funded by the United Nations Central Emergency Fund (CERF) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), will be coordinated by Action Against Hunger (ACF).
Cox's Bazar Civil Surgeon Mahbubur Rahman said, "We have taken various steps to ensure medical services to the Rohingya community as well as the locals."
Cox's Bazar new superintendent of police Hasanuzzaman said that at this time in Corona, the police are serving the people as well as working as front-line fighters.

Najibul Islam, General Secretary Ujjwal Kar, Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Kaysarul Haque Jewel, Chakaria Upazila Parishad Chairman Alhaj Fazlul Karim Sayedee, Maheshkhali Municipality Mayor Makshud Mia and District Jatiya Party leader Meheruzzaman were present.
